Edwin was forced, due to the deaths of his elder brothers to work at odd jobs instead of writing poetry in order to help his parents (Robinson, Wilson).
Edwin's poetry often reflected parts of his own life, which made his work profoundly interesting to read due to it's basis in reality. This is greatly proved by Robinson's late poetry which focused on “Tilbury Town”, a parallel of Gardiner; the town painted a vision of the quest for wealth and materialism in which he lived (Robinson, Wilson)... displayed 300 characters
