Due in large part to the fact that he was governor of Texas and his brother was governor of Florida. But due to the fact that California and New York are both fairly liberal states I find this a mute argument.

The human population at large isn’t intelligent enough to elect a president on their own. They also don’t care that much about politics. It just doesn’t interest some people.
