Accompanying this technique is the overall fragmented and isolated feelings expressed by the character ‘Prufrock’, feelings which the wide audience the poem is aimed at have felt at times in their lives. At the initial exposure to the poem, the audience realises that the peculiar descriptions, such as “do I dare, eat a peach?”, in relation to a sexual encounter with a women and odd jumping to different topics such as the transition between the end if the 14th stanza, “Almost, at times, the fool” where he relates himself to the Shakespearean “fool” a common character that speaks nonsense with underlying meaning, to the 15th stanza “I grow old… I grow old” where he's addressing his age and the passing of time...
