Sure, having a beautiful home and being able to double the family income sounds great, but did the American mothers really gain something worth while out of working and trying to be a wife and a good mother? We all agree, being a mother is more then a full time job, so when a woman becomes a mother why is it that she wants to do “double shift ”? Is it because women feel they have a greater say in the finances, in the marriage, and in the family if they work or has working mothers became a way of life? Some mothers work so they can afford a big house, have a nice car, take long vacation and send kids to college (The Cold War and American Woman)...

Some people will argue that mothers should not do “double shift” because there is an increase in divorce rate, problems with the kids and even the health of the mother. This paper will investigate if work is really the cause of higher divorce rates, kid’s problems and poor health. One of the biggest problem today’s women, especially women with kids, are facing is the pressure to work outside the house to make the ends meet and at the same time being looked down at for not be “totally committed ” to their family...
